Hello everyone,

Welcome to Album review Sunday. Each Sunday I review the albums that came out over the week and share my thoughts with you.

There were a lot of releases this week that I’m excited to share, but first off a bit of a disclaimer from me:

DISCLAIMER: I do not know that much about these artists as individuals and I do not personally know if they are bad people. I am reviewing JUST their music and what I think of their album. I do not necessarily support them. If you know something about an artist I have reviewed that you feel I should be aware of please feel free to contact me. I listen to all the music on headphones so I would recommend you to do the same. I do not listen to or rate explicit songs as I feel you can find everything needed in clean songs. All reviews are based off my first time listen and what I was thinking at the time, and I do not always know the story behind the song or the lyrics.

THE RATING SYSTEM: The overall album will be rated with a system of 0.5/10 being the worst I’ve ever heard and 10/10 being one of my favourite albums. The individual songs will be rated with a 0.5 stars being the worst and 5 stars being one of my favourites. I take into account beat, lyrics and whether it is something I would personally choose to listen to.

On to the albums!

To. X - The 5th Mini Album By TAEYEON RATING: 5/10

TRACK LIST

  1. To. X 4 Stars

  2. Melt Away 4 Stars

  3. Burn It Down 3 Stars

  4. Nightmare 3.5 Stars

  5. All For Nothing 3 Stars

  6. Fabulous 4 Stars

Overview: These songs weren’t bad so to speak but more were just not “my style”. But these songs weren’t awful for the style by any means. Who knows maybe the songs will grow on me.

MUST HAVE By ATBO RATING: 7/10

TRACK LIST

  1. Must have Love 3.5 Stars

  2. Mayday 4.5 Stars

  3. My Way 4 Stars

  4. Must Have Love (Eng Ver.) (Duet) 3.5 Stars

Overview: I enjoyed listening to this release. I didn’t enjoy the first song simply because I don’t really like christmas songs but as far as christmas songs go, it’s good. I did really enjoy Mayday though, maybe not the lyrics as much but it’s a nice happy song. Overall I think it was an okay release.

MAVE: 1st EP ‘What’s My Name’ By MAVE: RATING: 7/10

TRACK LIST

  1. Everyday 4 Stars

  2. What’s My Name 4 Stars

  3. Assemble 4.5 Stars

  4. Milkshake 3.5 Stars

  5. So Fly 3.5 Stars

Overview: Not bad music. I think these are the kind of songs that will grow on me as time goes on. Personally I think the virtual group is a cool idea. I mean there are actual singers and dancers behind the virtual girls so this is kind of the same as if they all wore masks while performing and singing. It’s a pretty cool way to have an anonymous group.

U&I By Hi-Fi Un!corn RATING: 8.5/10

TRACK LIST

  1. U&I 4.5 Stars

  2. Stay With You 4.5 Stars

  3. Icecream Girl 4 Stars

Overview: If I’m completely honest I only chose to review their release because their band name is Hi-Fi Un!corn. Like it’s a cool name and I was like, “the songs have to be good”. I am glad I picked them because this is really good. I was so sad when I looked at their profile and they don’t really have any other songs-I really look forward to their future songs because I love these songs so much-I’m gonna be listening to this a lot!

RE8EL By KANGDANIEL RATING: 9/10

TRACK LIST

  1. Worst Day Ever 4.5 Stars

  2. RE8EL 5 Stars

  3. Supernova - Japanese Version 4.5 Stars

  4. SOS - Japanese Version 4.5 Stars

Overview: Okay I’ve always loved KANGDANIEL’s music since I heard his song PARANOIA (which is amazing please go check it out) so maybe I’m a bit biased but this is really good. I didn’t expect rock vibes from RE8EL but it sounded really good. Also I always love hearing people singing/rapping in Japanese because it always just sounds so good and this was no exception.

THE WORLD EP.FIN : WILL By ATEEZ RATING: 10/10

TRACK LIST

  1. WE KNOW 5 Stars

  2. Emergency 4.5 Stars

  3. Crazy Form 5 Stars

  4. ARRIBA 5 Stars

  5. Silver Light 5 Stars

  6. Crescent Part 2 4 Stars

  7. Dreamy Day 5 Stars

  8. MATZ (HONGJOONG, SEONGHWA) 5 Stars

  9. IT’s You (YEOSANG, SAN, WOOYOUNG) 4.5 Stars

  10. Youth (YUNHO, MINGI) 5 Stars

  11. Everything (JONGHO) 4.5 Stars

  12. FIN : WILL 5 Stars

Overview: I’ve always loved ATEEZ’s releases and this album is no different. Every song on this album is incredible and I love their voices. Plus the choreography and music video to Crazy Form is so much fun to watch.

FAVE SONG: My personal favourite song other than Crazy Form would be “MATZ” because I don’t know why but for some reason I hadn’t expected a rap song? Even though HongJoong is a main rapper, I expected more of a ballad type song (please don’t ask me why, I genuinely don’t know) but I was pleasantly surprised when it sounded like that instead. But Crazy Form is probably my favourite song simply because it’s super bouncy (hah accidental reference to their previous song), and the choreography is super cool-I know what dance I’m learning next now lol.

LEAST FAVE SONG: Probably Crescent Part 2 simply because it’s just a minute long interlude.

And that concludes this week. The Nutkins awards are happening currently so if you haven't checked that out yet check it out here: https://proffessornutkins1.wixsite.com/proffessor-nutkins-m/2023-awards

I hope you all enjoy this music and feel free to recommend anything to me-I like all genres but I'm just not aware who's releasing other than K-pop artists.

Have a day!
