SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN is the 11th EP by boy group SEVENTEEN, and was released on the 23rd of October 2023. The eight track EP is a primarily upbeat release filled with really nice vocals.
I did review this upon release and I really enjoyed the vocals in this release more than I have in any past album of theirs. I'd added a list of my favourite moments in the original review, and have shared it again below for those who didn't see it:
"The VOCALS in this album were incredible. Let me list out some key points for me:
- DK's "SOS" last chorus line was awesome. He needs to sing in a rock style song because it would just sound so good.
- "Diamond Day's" glitch effect was so unexpected in the chorus but it worked so well. And I loved Woozi's and Vernon's voices with it.
- The emotion when "Yawn" was sung was beautiful. I'm not joking I even started feeling emotional when listening which happens super rarely so that was strange for me and well done to them.
- Hoshi's voice in "Back 2 Back" also sounded amazing."
I thought I liked these songs when they were first released but yet they still grew on me. I couldn't even begin to tell you the amount of times I've walked around the house singing "Kung Chi Pak Chi, Kung Kung Chi Pak Chi Yeah", the hook for the title song "God of Music", please trust me it sounds better when it's sung by them and not written out.
My favourite song unexpectedly became "Monster", which I didn't expect, but genuinely one of the best B-sides from this album. I always love songs written and sung by Vernon though so no surprise there really. I love "Black Eye" by him, however that's not on this album and I'm straying from the point of this post.
The point is that I really love this album and have visited it so much from release time that it 100% deserves a spot here in the Best Male K-pop Album of 2023.
