ENGLISH ALBUM OF 2023 2nd PLACE

Eric Nam’s 3rd studio album, House On A Hill, was released on the 8th of September 2023, and is his third English language album. Here is what he’s said about this album:

“So the single, ‘House on a Hill’, was inspired by me wanting to buy a house…everybody wants a place to call their own…but I was thinking to myself about why I wanted a house in the first place. And I started to ask myself all these questions about what it means to have a house…What does it actually mean? That train of thought led me to start contemplating a lot of things about life; questions about what makes us happy, what makes us really want to live, what makes us really sad and all these very ‘existential crises’ types of questions.”

“Almost every line in that song, if you just read it out loud as a statement, it makes you think about things that sometimes we don't want to think about because we're scared what the answer might be.”

I love this album beyond words honestly, every single song is just incredible. The lyrics are so beautiful and meaningful when you really listen. His voice is spectacular, filled with emotion and making every song sound even better.

Each song feels very real and emotionally raw without having that over-edited pop sound, which I really liked.

This is why I think this album deserves a spot in the Best English Album of 2023 category.
