My World is the third EP from girl group aespa, and was released on the 8th of May 2023. It contains 6 tracks including the pre-release single "Welcome To My World" featuring Naevis, and the title track "Spicy". Differing from their previous releases such as "Savage" and "Girls" which had more futuristic and hyper pop sounds, My World has brighter pop sounds drawing from dance and R&B. It also includes styles such as Dream Pop, Synth Pop, and Ballads. It makes for a very interesting listen.
This album shows a new side of the group where most of their music was dark or intense due to the storyline but this time they wanted to show a "ordinary teenage version" of themselves, as member Karina put it.
Every song on this is such a bop and i don't think I dislike a single one. aespa has always succeeded in the different genres they have traversed in and while I probably did prefer their older music such as "Savage", I have to say this album is very enjoyable.
While I do not necessarily enjoy the lyrics as much as I do with some other songs I hadn't read the meanings of the lyrics when first listening so I like these songs more purely based of musicality and the sound of them rather than the exact meaning, causing this album to be lower in this category.
