Hey everyone,
So my busy day ended sooner than I was expecting so here I am again. I finally finished Once and Future and wrote a review for you guys.
Once and Future by Amy Rose Capetta and Cori McCarthy
My first thoughts regarding this book:
I was really excited about this book. The cover is absolutely gorgeous, the story looks amazing, and I love King Arthur retells.
My actual thoughts after finishing the book:
I never finished this book. Not to say this wasn’t a good book but it was more down to personal preference. I was so excited for this book beforehand, so I am pretty disappointed.
Once I began reading it, I found it amazing. There are they/them characters, gay characters etc and it was so cool. There was a main side character who was they/them which is pretty hard to come by in books and I was so happy to see more representation happening .
Merlin was hilarious and so funny. Ok that basically means the same thing, but you get what I am trying to say. By far my favourite character.
The story was stunning with intricate space dramas and the picture it painted of these different planets colonies was beautiful.
Despite all this-which was amazing-I have 2 complaints.
1. I found this book incredibly fast paced. So fast paced that if I missed a sentence I no longer knew where they were, so I had to really concentrate when reading this book-not to say this is a bad thing, sometimes books can go on for too long describing what the wallpaper looked like which is more frustrating than being fast paced..
2. I wasn’t able to finish this book. This was because about halfway through the book Gwen and Ari got really mushy and we couldn’t go a paragraph without them looking at each other with fire in their hearts or a desire in their eyes, which ended up in them kissing and it kind of frustrated me because other than that this was a really good book. I don't do well with the romance.
So ultimately this book disappointed me, and I am very sad to say that.
