Hello everyone, Welcome to Album review Sunday. Each Sunday I review the albums that came out over the week and share my thoughts with you. There were many K-pop releases this week (well actually they are all K-pop, sorry to those of you who don't like K-pop that much but I had to review these) so I’m very excited to share the albums, but first off a bit of a disclaimer from me:
DISCLAIMER: I do not know that much about these artists as individuals and I do not personally know if they are bad people. I am reviewing JUST their music and what I think of their album. I do not necessarily support them. If you know something about an artist I have reviewed that you feel I should be aware of please feel free to contact me. I listen to all the music on headphones so I would recommend you to do the same. I do not listen to or rate explicit songs as I feel you can find everything needed in clean songs. All reviews are based off my first time listen and what I was thinking at the time, and I do not always know the story behind the song or the lyrics. THE RATING SYSTEM: The overall album will be rated with a system of 0.5/10 being the worst I’ve ever heard and 10/10 being one of my favourite albums. The individual songs will be rated with a 0.5 stars being the worst and 5 stars being one of my favourites. I take into account beat, lyrics and whether it is something I would personally choose to listen to. On to the albums! #4 Magic Hour by Kep1er RATING: 5/10 TRACK LIST
Galileo 4 stars
The Door 3.5 stars
Love On Lock 4 Stars
Tropical Light 3 stars
TAPE 2.5 stars
Overall thoughts: This album was really lacking for me. The lyrics felt very general to me, the songs felt like they were missing something in some places and honestly I feel it could’ve been better. Some songs were pretty catchy so that is mainly why this album and songs are rated a bit higher.
#3 La Dolce Vita by ONEUS RATING: 6/10 TRACK LIST
Intro: Beggin’ You 3.5 stars
Baila Conmigo 4 stars
Simulation 3.5 stars
Epilogue 3.5 stars
Baila Conmigo (Spanish Version) 4 stars
Overall thoughts: This wasn’t the best album I’ve heard but I did enjoy it to some extent. It feels like a very chill album that I would play in the background. I enjoyed Baila Conmigo the most because honestly mixing Spanish, Korean, and English is just straight up impressive. Also the Music Video? They are literally never going to stop finding glitter in their hair and clothes now. It’s bad enough when you’re crafting with it but dancing in it? Those are some permanently glittery people now.
#2 NEW DNA by XG RATING: 9.5/10 TRACK LIST
HESONOO 2.5 stars
X-GENE 4 stars
GRL GVNG 4.5 stars
TGIF 5 stars
NEW DANCE 4.5 stars
PUPPET SHOW 4 stars
Overall thoughts: An album filled with catchy lyrics and minimalistic beats. Normally I’m not a fan of this style because it normally feels very empty but this didn’t feel like that at all because it was done so well. These are good songs and they are in such a different style to what you would normally hear in music, especially K-pop girl groups which are normally bubble-gum pop but this is so different. I found it was almost similar to (G)I-DLE’s TOMBOY era, with the different kind of sounding music and really catchy lyrics. And the raps in this?? Insane like wow. I did not expect it at all. Again reminded me of (G)I-DLE because these kind of faster raps by Girl groups in K-pop is harder to find when you compare it to boy groups. Okay I’ll stop now I’m rambling now lol. MY FAVE SONG: It would have to be TGIF. It is a really good song and very catchy. And it’s just the kind of feel good song that just makes you feel cool. MY LEAST FAVE: it would be HESONOO based purely off the fact I wouldn’t listen to it but it was really good as an intro to the album.
#1 RINGO Single by ITZY RATING: 10/10 TRACK LIST
RINGO 5 stars
Overall thoughts: Okay I know I review albums not singles but this was too good to pass up. NEW DNA would be top album this week if I hadn’t included this song in here. I am literally counting down the days for this album release and my excitement when they released this song from the album early! I am a big ITZY fan and I love their music. This is such a good song and I can’t wait for the whole album which will be released on October the 18th.
And that concludes all the albums (and one single) from this week that I listened to. Let me know what you guys think!
Have a day,
Proffessor Nutkins
Yes, Ryujin (from ITZY) was on a horse, in the Ringo music video. The music video was cool, I recommend watching.
