Album Reviews 15th of October 2023

Hello everyone,

Welcome to Album review Sunday. Each Sunday I review the albums that came out over the week and share my thoughts with you.

There were a lot of K-pop releases this week so I’m very excited to share, but first off a bit of a disclaimer from me:

DISCLAIMER: I do not know that much about these artists as individuals and I do not personally know if they are bad people. I am reviewing JUST their music and what I think of their album. I do not necessarily support them. If you know something about an artist I have reviewed that you feel I should be aware of please feel free to contact me. I listen to all the music on headphones so I would recommend you to do the same. I do not listen to or rate explicit songs as I feel you can find everything needed in clean songs. All reviews are based off my first time listen and what I was thinking at the time, and I do not always know the story behind the song or the lyrics.

THE RATING SYSTEM: The overall album will be rated with a system of 0.5/10 being the worst I’ve ever heard and 10/10 being one of my favourite albums. The individual songs will be rated with a 0.5 stars being the worst and 5 stars being one of my favourites. I take into account beat, lyrics and whether it is something I would personally choose to listen to.

On to the albums!

#5 EVOLution <*> By TripleS RATING: 5/10

TRACK LIST

  1. &#10209 2.5 Stars

  2. Invincible 4 Stars

  3. Rhoda the 4.5 Stars

  4. Heavy Metal Wings 4.5 Stars

  5. 37.5 Celsius 3.5 Stars

  6. Moto Princess 4.5 Stars

  7. Oui 3 Stars

  8. Enhanced Flower 4 Stars

Overall Thoughts: I found this was really lacking for me. It’s not that it felt empty or anything like that. It just wasn’t really in my music taste I guess.

I didn’t really enjoy the vocals. They were also really high in some places which almost hurt the ears.

Most of the lyrics were too romance based for me to enjoy fully. I personally felt this could be better than it was.

#4 IN The Mood by Whee In RATING: 5.5/10

TRACK LIST

  1. I Know I Know I Know (Beyond) 4.5 stars

  2. In The Mood 4 Stars

  3. 17 Feat. HWASA 3.5 Stars

  4. Spark 4.5 Stars

  5. Bite Me Feat. HAON 3.5 Stars

  6. Dance 4 You 3 Stars

  7. On The Island 3 Stars

  8. Aphrodite 3.5 Stars

  9. Breeze 3 Stars

  10. Bittersweet 3 Stars

  11. Here I Am 5 Stars

Overall Thoughts: The ONLY reason I rated these songs and this album lower than normal was simply based off the fact that this was very romance based which you may have noticed by now-I’m not a fan of these songs.

If you ignore that I did love this. Whee In’s voice was really good and the songs were super nice to listen to.

#3 I’VE MINE by IVE RATING 7/10

TRACK LIST

  1. Off The Record 4 Stars

  2. Baddie 4 Stars

  3. Either Way 5 Stars

  4. Holy Moly 5 Stars

  5. OTT 3.5 Stars

  6. Payback 3.5 Stars

Overall thoughts: This album felt very sweet. Like when you bite into something and it’s just super sweet. I think you could’ve figured that’s what I meant. I’m over explaining my metaphors lol.

It wasn’t the worst thing I’ve (lol) ever heard but I can’t see myself visiting this very much in the future.

#2 The Name Chapter: FREEFALL by Tomorrow X Together (TXT) RATING: 9.5/10

TRACK LIST

  1. Growing Pain 5 Stars

  2. Chasing That Felling 5 Stars

  3. Back for More (TXT Ver.) 4.5 Stars

  4. Dreamer 5 Stars

  5. Deep Down 5 Stars

  6. Happily Ever After 4.5 Stars

  7. Skipping Stones 4.5 Stars

  8. Blue Spring 5 Stars

  9. Do It Like That (With Jonas Brothers) 4 Stars

  10. Chasing That Feeling (English Ver.) 5 Stars

Overall Thoughts: For some knowledge I love TXT and they are a great group. I’ve listened to their music for a long time and I’ve been counting down the days for this release.

TXT do NOT disappoint. I am such a big TXT fan and I was a little worried I wouldn’t like it that much as the 2 singles that were released from the album ahead of time (Back For More and Do It Like That) I didn’t love. They were good songs but just nothing incredible in my opinion.

But this album was AMAZING! I love it so much. And also these vocals were SO good. And the references to their debut song “CROWN” was so cool as a fan.

Overall this was an amazing album.

#1 Livelock by Xdinary Heroes RATING: 10/10

TRACK LIST

  1. Freddy 5 Stars

  2. Break The Brake

  3. PLUTO 5 Stars

  4. Enemy 5 Stars

  5. Bad Chemical 5 Stars

  6. Paranoid 5 Stars

  7. AGAIN? AGAIN! 4.5 Stars

Overall thoughts: Wow. Honestly I have no words for these songs and this album. This was just incredible.

I honestly couldn’t tell you why I’ve never really listened to Xdinary Heroes before (with the exception of Strawberry Cake)? They are amazing.

Also for those of you wondering (though you may not really care) Xdinary Heroes are actually a K-Rock group not a K-Pop group. I really need to listen to more K-Rock because it is so good.

So please please please listen to this album because it is SO good.

MY FAVE SONG: I honestly can’t pick a song lol. The vocals and guitar and just vibe from all these songs are so incredible.

MY LEAST FAVE: I would say it would be AGAIN? AGAIN! Purely because it’s more romance but it sounds much like a 90’ to 00’s boy band and so I do love it because I like those songs because they are so boppy, (is boppy a word? I hope you know what I’m trying to say lol).

And that wraps up this week’s releases. Again please recommend as many songs, albums, or upcoming releases. I do actually like other genres but I just don’t know what’s being released and am not as familiar with all the groups. So please please please feel free to recommend literally anything.

I shall see you again soon!!

Have a day!
