A Cold Winters Day

Updated: Sep 6, 2023

It was a cold wintery day much as the title of this posts suggests. Our hero was tucked up in bed hiding from the cold harsh Australian environment that is 11 Celsius. They peer out from the covers to see through the window. Cold harsh rain thrummed against the window. The ground covered in puddles and mud. The hero looks over to the book on their bedside table. A few pages won’t hurt they think as they pick it up, just a chapter or two, maybe three. Many hours later our hero peers up from the book to find outside dark. Oh dear, they think and close the book. They look at the clock 5:36 pm. They proceed to have dinner and watch meaningless tv in the evening. Then they go to sleep.

And that my readers is my excuse for not posting yesterday. Incase you didn’t figure it out I am “our hero”. You probably thought I had fallen off the face of the earth. I was actually immersed in a very real seeming fantasy world that had a very dramatic plot twist and I just had to find out what was going to happen. Then something else happened in the book and I had to find out what happens again and that is how it becomes dark, and you have missed the whole day because you were too immersed in a fictional world.

Ok, here’s something weird to think about-every single fictional character I love doesn’t actually exist or even know I exist. It is so weird to think they aren’t real because they seem so real to me. I have a very vivid imagination so when I am reading a book it is almost like watching a screen with things happening. And the fact that they don’t know I exist is also weird because I know every tiny thing about them. Sometimes I even pretend I am one of the characters in the book. It’s really weird when I realise, they are actually just ink on paper or coloured pixels moving.

Any moving on from that existential crisis, I just had pancakes. I usually have whipped cream but instead I tried honey and I found it is quite nice. I can imagine you sitting there (by you I mean a generic reader not you specifically) reading this thinking I don’t care what you had on your pancakes what a boring thig to write about, and I have to say I agree with you. This is a boring topic. However, I do recommend trying honey on pancakes.

Moving on again, (gosh I say that a lot), a gift I bought someone arrived today and they loved it. It was a cartoon/anime statue version of Loki, the previous mentioned favourite marvel character of mine. They also love Loki and Marvel. I almost considered buying another one for me, but I decided it against it and I will save up to purchase a Loki one and a Harley Quinn one. Maybe even a Mr. America one (Captain America).

I hope you all have a day again. (Please see the second post if you are offended.)

I know you can, Mr. America but I am not typing all day, I have a lot to do. Until next time Mr. America.

However I can read all day. At the expense of my fans so I shall make sure that doesn't happen again.
